It's Fall Festival Time - Perfect for our Market Sac

It's Fall Festival Time - Perfect for our Market Sac

We've updated our popular Street Fair Sac to create a cozy wool sac, just in time for cooler weather.  Our Market Sac is a Beginner Tutorial Design and will teach you to knit using our KnitSchool skills videos.  It's also a quick knit - perfect for getting a headstart on holiday gifts.

The Market Sac is designed by the uber-creative Roni Halloran, and it uses Erika Knight Maxi Wool, a Super Bulky yarn make from British sheep fleece.  It's sold as a Kit, so just pick your color and get going.

All of our Kits come with one-on-one videochat support scheduled at your convenience with one of our knitting teachers.  Our goal is to make sure you finish your project, learn something, and love your Market Sac.

After you've finished, it's the perfect tote for your next knitting project!

Menswear - The Lee Tie from James Cox Knits

Menswear - The Lee Tie from James Cox Knits

There are plenty of men who knit - and knitters who love men.  And there are a lot more who would like to learn.  We've collaborated with James Cox Knits to bring you our first Beginner Tutorial Design for Men - the Lee Tie.

James (he goes by 'Jim') has been knitting for years - from the very beginning, he created his own menswear designs.  At first, they were for him, and later, he started selling his designs and kits.  He recently completed a capsule collection for Skacel, and will be featured in an upcoming issue of Vogue Knitting.  You may have seen Jim at a Vogue Knitting Live event.  He's a marketing guru who helps launch luxury travel properties, and knitting is his passion.  We're delighted to kick off our menswear line with a James Cox Knits design.

About the Lee Tie Kit - James named it after his Dad.  It's a Beginner Design that will teach you how to knit.  It also makes a relaxing knit, if you're already a knitter.

It's designed with Flying Goat Farm's Mo Paca yarn - a limited batch yarn in the natural color of the mohair goats and alpaca fleece from Flying Goat Farm's animals (and a neighbor's alpaca) from their farm in Maryland.  No dyes or chemicals are used in this special yarn that is processed at a small local mill that doesn't use the industrial processes of some larger mills.

We only sell Mo Paca in the Lee Tie Kit, and we only sell the Lee Tie Kit with Mo Paca.  We think they are perfect together.

You have plenty of time to knit this up for a holiday gift for someone you love.  It's also a great gift for someone who wants to learn to knit.

Autumn Knitting - The Eastwind Cowl

Autumn Knitting - The Eastwind Cowl

It's that time of year - knitting season.  If you don't already knit, now's the time to learn with our Eastwind Cowl.  It's lightweight enough to wear in early Autumn days, and it'll knit up super quickly.  We've designed the Eastwind Cowl as a Beginner Tutorial Design to teach knitting basics, but it's also a great project for experienced knitters who want to have a relaxing knit.

It's sold as a Kit and designed using Cedar House Yarns' Sapling Sock, knit double.  So you can pick two of Sapling Sock's amazing colors or choose a solid color for your Eastwind Cowl.  Our model is in Oyster and Yellow Bell.

Your Kit comes with everything you need to make your Cowl - in fact, you can get an early start on holiday presents.  You should have enough yarn to make 2 Cowls!

Knit Your Nest - Our Nap Time Pillow Design

Knit Your Nest - Our Nap Time Pillow Design

We love making our home cosier, and we bet you do, too.  We designed the Nap Time Pillow to let us do two of our favorite things - knit and nest.  It's one of our Beginner Tutorial Designs, so if you've been wanting to learn to knit, this will teach you - the design links directly to our skills videos in our KnitSchool.

It's designed using Greenwood Hill Farm Merino in Worsted Weight (Worsted is the thickness of the yarn).  Greenwood Hill Farm raises registered Merino sheep, and you can learn more about them here.  They raise 2 colors of sheep and then spin those fleeces into 4 colors - White, Silver, Slate, and Chocolate.  No dyes or chemicals are used in this yarn.  And the quality of the Merino is pretty darn special!

The finished Design is a 14" by 14" pillow cover - no zippers, buttons, or sewing machine necessary.  Our Kit will include everything you need to make your pillow cover - just pick your colors.  It doesn't include the pillow form - you can get one at a local craft store.

Once you're done, it'll be the perfect place to rest your head and take a nap.

Gray Is A Color Too

Gray Is A Color Too

We started thinking about the color gray.  It's a neutral and goes with so many other colors, but gray itself can have so many variations (we'd say "shades" but don't want to go there).  It has a calmness to it and can have wonderful depth.

This photo shows how gray can be art, all by itself.  From left to right:  Cedar House Yarns Sapling Sock in Oyster; Jorstad Creek Cornwall in Mid Gray; Erika Knight Cotton Gossypium in Sea Fret; Erika Knight Studio Linen in Remnant; Sincere Sheep Luminous DK in Nebling; Flying Goat Farm Fingal2 in Dapple Gray; Sincere Sheep Cormo Worsted in Winter's Night; Erika Knight Maxi Wool in Fury; and Cedar House Yarns Windfall Super Bulky in Oyster.
