Knitting Detective Package - Gettysburg PA

Join us for a knitting-filled murder mystery weekend in Gettysburg, PA from February 26th to February 28th, 2027!  We've had so much fun in Gettysburg that we can't quit it :)  The videos show the vibes from a previous event! 

Our Founder, Cheryl, will be joined at the *skein of the crime* by the super talented Safiyyah Talley (her short bio is below) to host you for the knitting portion of a weekend that requires both your sleuthing and knitting skills.  We’ll be at the Gettysburg Hotel, in Gettysburg, PA for a murder mystery weekend.  The murder mystery is for everyone (not just knitters and crocheters).  For knitters (and crocheters!), we'll be adding on plenty of fun, swag, and knitting time.

The murder mystery kicks off Friday, February 26th, at cocktail hour, and the murderer is revealed on Sunday, February 28th, at breakfast (we’ll also have a farewell lunch Sunday afternoon just for knitters – see below!).  You'll need both the Murder Mystery Weekend package which you purchase from the Gettysburg Hotel and the Knitting Detective Package (which you purchase here) to join us.  The Gettysburg Hotel package includes two nights hotel, cocktail hour with heavy appetizers on Friday, three meals on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday, as well as the murder mystery entertainment.  The price with the hotel is based on the level of room you select – information about the non-knitting part of the weekend is here.  And you reserve your room and package with the Gettysburg Hotel here (or call the Front Desk and ask for the package).  The Knitting Detective Package includes what is detailed below in Step 2.

How to join us:

There are 2 steps. 

Step 1 - If you want to join us for the murder mystery knitting package, you must reserve your room and package with the Gettysburg Hotel, regardless of whether you are a knitter/crocheter or not.  **Note: the hotel has a $150 non-refundable deposit for the Murder Mystery Weekend package, so we recommend booking your Knitting Detective Package with us first (please see our cancellation policy below).

Step 2 - In addition to the above, knitters/crocheters who purchase the “Knitting Detective” Package through Row House here will also get the following:

• Access to our private knitting room to connect with other Knitting Detectives and Safiyyah Talley (and knit or crochet!)
• Gift bag, which includes a kit of Safiyyah's Sage Cowlette pattern (see photo) with Birch Hollow Fibers Sylvia Sock in your choice of 2 colors, and other goodies (shipped in early February)
• Meet and Greet and Knit on Friday night after the cocktail hour, a casual space and time to meet the other Knitting Detectives
• The Let's Knit the Sage Cowlette workshop with Safiyyah Talley.  In this class, we will learn the fundamentals of cowlette knitting by casting on the Sage Colette.  A cowlette is a mini shawl (also known as a shawlette) that is knit in the round, like a cowl.  This modern take on a classic shawl allows for easy wearing.
  
• Murder Board Knit-a-long – just like the professionals, we’ll assemble for a private session to work through the suspects and the clues to make progress on solving the case – while knitting!
  
• A Frog It or Fix It session - do you have a project in *time out* and you'd like help deciding what its punishment should be?  Bring your project and share it with the group.
• Farewell lunch – after the live murder entertainment has concluded, we’ll assemble one last time for a light lunch Sunday and some final knitting time before people head home.

1)  Purchase your Knitting Detective Package here!  Please include your choice of 2 colors for your Sage Cowlette kit in the notes of your order.  The price for our package is $640.00.  Please keep an eye on your email - we'll be emailing additional info to you after you register. 

2)  After you've confirmed your spot with us, then you'll need to reserve the Murder Mystery Weekend package at the Gettysburg Hotel to ensure that you have the hotel/meals/murder mystery entertainment to join us for the weekend.  You need to reserve both packages to join us.

Safiyyah Talley is the author of Knit 2 Socks in 1 and Knitting Cowlettes. She is also a knitwear designer, instructor, and podcaster who works out of her home in scenic Indiana, USA. When she is not knitting, Safiyyah either spends her free time hiking with her photographer husband, her toddler son Beau, and chocolate lab, Arya, or enjoying the rural Indiana landscape with her two cats, Khaleessi and Nymeria.

Cancellation policy for the Knitting Detective Package:  Any requests for cancellation and refund must be made by email to info@rowhouseyarn.com.  Cancellations before November 1st will receive a full refund.  Cancellations between November 1st and January 15th will receive a 50% refund.  There will be no refunds after January 16th.

If you cancel your purchase, if Row House or the Gettysburg Hotel cancel the event, or if unforeseen circumstances necessitate a change in teacher or classes, Row House is not responsible for any costs incurred by the purchaser including, but not limited to, travel, lodging, or meals.

Gettysburg Hotel Murder Mystery Package Cancellation Policy:  For questions about the cancellation policy for the Murder Mystery hotel/meals/murder mystery entertainment package from the Gettysburg Hotel, please check with the Gettysburg Hotel.  Any cancellation requests for that package are handled by them.  They are solely responsible for packages booked through them.  We understand that there is a non-refundable $150 fee from them, so we recommend booking your Knitting Detective Package with us first and then booking your Murder Mystery Weekend package with them.
