Description

With our Free Beginner Tutorial Design, you'll learn how to knit and make coasters. They're a small project, so easy to finish, and a great home project for yourself or to give as gifts. Each coaster will be either a garter stitch square, the easiest of stitch patterns, or a stockinette stitch square with a garter stitch border - your choice.

It's designed for absolute beginners, and if you look at the PDF online, you'll be able to click the links to get to the KnitSchool video you need.

You'll learn how to: cast on, knit, purl, and bind off.

YARN:
Any Super Bulky weight yarn - we recommend Erika Knight Maxi Wool. In your beginner kit (if you buy one), we've included enough yarn to make 4 (maybe even 5) coasters. If you're not using one of our kits, you will need at least 65 m (or 71 yds) to make 4 coasters.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS:
Size 8 mm (US size 11) straight needles
Tapestry needle for weaving in the ends
Scissors (not included in the kit)

GAUGE:
11 1/2 sts by 22 rows = 4" in garter stitch, although matching gauge exactly isn't necessary for this project.

FINISHED DIMENSIONS:
5 1/2" wide by 5" long (Garter Stitch)
5 1/2" wide by 5 1/2" long (Stockinette Stitch)
