Join us for Camp Knit-a-way! We're hosting a special weekend on Laurel Island in East Hampton, Connecticut from September 19 to 21, 2025. We'll take over the whole island for Camp Knit-a-way, and attendees will have access to the island's amenities, including hammocks (!), kayaks, SUP, pedal boats, swimming, volleyball, bocce, giant Jenga, private and group decks, board games, yard games, sauna, and more. There will be plenty of knitting (or crocheting) time, as well as s'mores and a fire pit at night, group and weather willing. The weekend includes all meals, drinks, and snacks, catered by a private chef.
The fabulous Tanis Gray will be our Camp Counselor, together with our Founder, Cheryl, and she'll be launching her Laurel Island Cowl exclusively at Camp Knit-a-way.
Tanis will be teaching a Stranded Colorwork & Latvian Braids workshop on Saturday, September 20th. We'll also be featuring her exclusive Laurel Island Cowl pattern in your gift bag, along with your choice of colors in Sincere Sheep's Luminous DK (see the color choices below).
Camp Knit-a-way is a rustic island experience with plenty of unstructured knitting and activity time. You can learn more about Laurel Island on its website (linked to here). Laurel Island is only accessible by boat, so the island's pontoon boat will bring people to the island Friday afternoon (we will have hourly boat trips beginning at 2pm and ending at 7pm) and will bring people back to shore Sunday afternoon. There is free parking available at the shore.
The 4-1-1:
- The weekend will begin at 2pm on Friday, September 19th, and will conclude at 4pm on Sunday, September 21st.
- We will arrange for earlier boat trips to shore on Sunday afternoon, as needed.
- We will provide all meals, drinks, and snacks from
Friday evening through Sunday lunch. - Biodegradable shampoos and soaps are provided, and Laurel Island asks that you not use any non-biodegradable shampoos or soaps.
- There are limited rooms and room types, so once they're gone, they're gone.
A Room package includes:
- The room you choose (not a cabin, but a room in a cabin); you may decide to find a roommate or not; the maximum occupancy of each room is detailed below. If you reserve a room, you decide whether to have a roommate or not - we do not assign roommates!
- A gift bag with plenty of goodies and a kit of Tanis Gray's Laurel Island Cowl pattern in your choice of colors for one camper
- All meals by a private chef, and plenty of drinks and snacks for one camper
- A space in Tanis Gray's workshop on Stranded Colorwork and Latvian Braids for one camper
-
Use of the island amenities and plenty of unstructured knitting time for one camper
- Round trip transportation from shore to the island for one camper
An A-Frame Full Cabin package includes the following for three campers:
- Exclusive occupancy of the A-Frame Cabin; you may decide to bring additional roommates or not; the maximum occupancy of the A-Frame Cabin is 5 people.

- All meals by a private chef, and plenty of drinks and snacks for the first 3 campers

- Note: The A-Frame Full Cabin package includes everything for 3 campers. If you would like additional campers to stay in the A-Frame, each additional camper will need to purchase a Camper or a Non-Knitter package (see below).
A Camper package includes the following (it does not include a room, so you will need to share with someone who has a Room or the A-Frame Full Cabin package):
- A gift bag with plenty of goodies and a kit of Tanis Gray's Laurel Island Cowl pattern in your choice of colors for one camper

- Round trip transportation from short to the island for one camper
To join us, you'll need to:
- Reserve a Room or the A-Frame Full Cabin package (or share a room with someone who has reserved a Room or the A-Frame Full Cabin package). If you are sharing with someone, one person needs to reserve the room or cabin package, and the other person must reserve a Camper package, which includes everything except a room or cabin.
- If you are sharing a Room or the A-Frame Full Cabin with someone, reserve a Camper package or a Non-Knitter package.
- Put your choice of 2 colors of Sincere Sheep Luminous DK (the colors are all shown below) in the notes of your order. This is not applicable to people reserving a Non-Knitter package.
Want help choosing colors? Email us at info@rowhouseyarn.com or call us at 800 220 1699, and we'll be happy to help!
To help you decide which room or cabin to reserve, we've indicated what cabin it is in and any quirks, as well as the number and size of beds in it, if you want to share with a friend or organize a cabin among a group of friends. Prices differ depending upon the room type. We are also linking to the cabin photos and information on the Laurel Island website for each cabin.

All bathrooms are shared, and there is a shower house in the middle of the island with two private showers that all of the cabins share; the Lodge also has two showers. In addition, there are no paved paths on the island, so you should bring comfortable shoes/sandals. The dress code is very casual!
Please let us know either in the notes of your package or by email, if you have any dietary restrictions.
Cancellation policy: You may cancel your reservation without penalty until June 15, 2025. If you cancel between June 16 and August 1, 50% of your reservation will be refundable. After August 1, reservations (whether of a Room, A-Frame Full Cabin, Camper, or Non-Knitter package) are non-refundable.
If you cancel your reservation, or Row House cancels the event, or if unforeseen events require a change in co-host, kit, or other aspects of the event, Row House is not responsible for any additional costs incurred by you including, but not limited to, travel, lodging, or meals. A change in co-host will not entitle you to a refund, except as described above.
