Camel DK is a DK weight yarn spun from Camel fiber. Camel DK is very soft, has a luxurious texture, and is unique. Its chain structure makes it particularly lightweight and elastic. Camel DK is available in 11 natural, warm colors inspired by the dune lines of the desert landscape.
Pascuali's Camel DK wool is derived from the undercoat of the iconic two-humped Bactrian camels found across the Alashan region of Inner Mongolia. Called the ships of the desert for their endurance and ability to cope with the heat and lack of water, Bactrian camels are known for their long, lustrous hair. They have two layers of hair: guard hair, the outer one which is coarse and straight; and the undercoat, which is soft and fine. Bactrian camels face freezing winters and scorching summers, but their undercoat offers exceptional insulation, keeping them warm during the cold months and cool during the war season. It is precisely this layer of hair (also called baby Camel hair) that we have used for our yarn.
Pascuali pays special attention to a sustainable supply chain that meets its social, ethical, and ecological responsibility. From the farm to the finished yarn, Pascuali stands for high standards in terms of environmental protection, animal welfare, and working conditions.
